LEVEL 4 / POST 8: CHANGES TO MY STUDY PROGRAMME

Hello everyone. Since I entered the race, I am very excited that I had land from the first year, even before entering classes, I remember that that time we went to Pantanillos. So I always liked the curriculum, but I thought a lot about the fact that the other engineering departments had calculus and algebra, instead we only had mathematics and I have always thought that we are at a disadvantage in the area compared to the other engineering departments, I think that would only change that. regarding the study plan. The workload that we have as students is very high, we always coincide with many jobs, reports, seminars and controls, I would like there to be better planning of these and for them to think about the current situation that we are experiencing as a country, it is not easy to have to do so many activities and also take care of a home. The duration of the studies is fine, we can see everything, but if I would change the summer practices, since they take 1 month of our vacations ☹. As for the Faculty facilities, almost all of them belong to Agronomy and we in Forest Engineering hardly have any. We should have more classrooms and labs. The use of technology in the race is fine, they almost always teach us new measuring instruments, but we seldom use them since they are expensive and our faculty is poor hahaha. I love the teaching methods, as I said before from day 0 we are in the field and the teachers take care of making the most of it, except for some.

LEVEL 4 / POST 7: SUMMER HOLIDAYS

Hi! How are you?, I hope fine. This time I will tell you about my plans for summer vacations. The truth is, I don't usually plan anything, never! I think I am the type of person who lives for the moment, but I am sure of something and that is that I do not have money for a great trip ... Therefore, I prefer to work this vacation perhaps as a salesperson, a restocker or whatever, it is necessary that I did it because afterwards I can visit many places that I have always wanted to go, such as Las Torres Del Paine, the marble cathedrals or some place on the Austral highway. Also, this year I have no university practice so I have two months for me. I would very much like to go with friends since this way it is much more enjoyable and we can protect against any eventuality, I plan to organize something like this in a group of 4 friends. I also want to go to Temuco to visit a friend who the other year is going to Brazil and together with her go to Altos de Lircay or do some trekking, hahaha, the place doesn't matter. I have nothing else in mind, but if or if I think I will go to the beach with some friends (Every year we go in February, even if it's a few days). Well there are many ideas, the main thing now is to find a job.

Your post graduate studies

Hello everyone, I hope you are well. With the last blog I began to investigate the postgraduate degrees that the forest sciences faculty has in the country and I was very interested in doing a Master in Wild Areas and Nature Conservation, because I would like to specialize much more in conservation of our native forests, since they need a lot of concern and care, due to climate change and poor forest management. I would also like to study abroad on entomology and insects, but this is already a more distant dream since I would need more money and contacts, maybe it could be my second study plan (who knows). The subjects I would like to study are Biology and Ecology of Conservation, Conservation of Flora and Vegetation, Cultural Vision of Nature, Conservation and Study of Animal Populations, Policies about Biodiversity, Wildlife and Protected Areas, Management and Management of Wild Areas . I know they are quite a few, but very necessary to be a trained and good professional in the area. I think I would like to study the course part-time, in this way I could work and pay for the expenses involved in doing a Magister in Chile (Too expensive for my future pocket), also so I could study more calmly since it will surely be quite complex but not impossible (optimistic hahaha).

LEVEL 4 / POST 5 (WEEK 7): MY FUTURE JOB.

Hello everyone, today's topic is about the future, the truth is that lately I have been thinking a lot about this topic and I think I would like to have a job in the South of the country, controlling exotic insect pests in native forests or in plantations of the forestry industry. I would also like to do research on new species of fungi or insects. I definitely want a job abroad, I would not be happy at all if my workplace was based on being in an office all day, I need to walk, observe and breathe the air. :( I really don't see myself in a closed place. One of my dreams is to practice my profession abroad in order to travel a lot and be
able to specialize abroad, to be able to meet new species of trees, animals, insects, fungi, etc. If they ask me about my salary, I think I don't care much, just happy with little as long as I can afford to have my home, pets and a car. Lately I analyze my tastes and I think I will specialize in entomology and pest management, so far it is what I like the most, I would like to dedicate my life to this, I like the small worlds in which these little living beings inhabit, there is so much that study and research!.

POST 4 (WEEK 6): CAREER RELATED TOPIC: Why did you choose your current career?

Hi!
In my case, from a young age, I had tastes related to nature, ecology and biology, but I was never very clear about what to study, my dream was to study paleontology, but it did not exist in the country I decided that I should look for another path. When I reached my last year of high school, I wanted to study at the same university as my sister and I looked for something that related to my tastes (Saving the world by caring for our planet) so I chose to study environmental engineering as my first option, followed by biology with a major in environment. But making the wrong choice was not what I was looking for, I needed to be in nature, within the forests, know species and know how to differentiate them to investigate those that were in danger of extinction and thus be able to carry out my rescue mission more closely. So I decided to go out and look for another career, while I was looking I found forestry engineering and it really was like a dream, I don't know how I hadn't thought about it and then I put it as the first option followed by the same career, but at the Catholic University. I was accepted and well the rest is history I am someone very happy and I am in my third year and I do not regret anything.

POST 3: MOVIES (BEST MOVIE/BEST DIRECTOR/BEST GENRE).

This time I didn’t hesitate for a minute to pick my favorite film director, so I don’t keep them waiting... with you the great Tim Burton, this man besides being a famous film director is a producer, writer and cartoonist. This time I didn’t hesitate for a minute to pick my favorite film director, so I don’t keep them waiting... with you the great Tim Burton, this man besides being a famous film director is a producer, writer and cartoonist. writer and cartoonist. Most of his films have been characterized by the presence of imaginary worlds, where gothic and dark elements are present; in which his characters are social misfits.
I think the first movie I saw was Beetlejuice and Edward Scissorhands (at a very young age)and I was deeply mesmerized by the setting and overall make-up of the film’s production. At that time I didn’t ask who the director was until I saw The Nightmare Before Christmas and associated the style. The stop motion of this movie made me even more excited (so excited it became a tradition to see it on Halloween) so I kept looking for movies with this animation and style. I think I love his films and not only for the facade, but for the scenes, the music, the stories and the magic they produce in me. I highly recommend watching his movies, of course if you like fantasy and darkness hahaha, here are some recommendations: Frankenweenie, Beetlejuice, Batman, Edward Scissorhands, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Big Fish, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Corpse Bride, Sweeney Todd, Alice in wonderland, Dark Shadows, Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, Dumbo.

POST 2: THE BEST HOLIDAYS

Hiii!

This theme made me remember 2014 when I traveled with my father, mother, sister, uncles and my cousins to Buchupureo, we visited Las Nalkas Park a Hotel-Resort located in the eighth region and about 7 hours from Santiago. I think we stayed for 2 weeks, but this time was enough to fall in love with nature and insects... although at that time I did not know it since it ran from the huge moths and spiders, but they caught my attention 😂.

TreeHouse 💚🌳

🌸

One of the reasons this was my best vacation was that I fulfilled my dream of living in a tree house, I went hiking for the first time, I met giant insects that I had never seen, I saw beautiful and natural landscapes. It was the first time that I was inside a native forest and I knew something without so much human intervention. Although it was a hotel this one takes advantage of the resources that already existed and achieve the least possible impact on the essence of the place.

I will leave photographs of the place and some that I take .

My family.
